I’ve always like this book and the idea of Gods being trapped and having to find unlikely allies.

I decided to not rate this book. Not because I think it’s unrateable but because I need more time to process I feel about the depiction of D.I.D.

I am going to sit on a review for awhile and try to come back and write my thoughts. 

Honestly, I am not a theatre or play person. I actually don’t understand Shakespearean literature and never had any inclination to want to be apart of that world. 

However, this book was a surprise to me. This book gives the reader a good idea of what’s it’s like to live and exist with chronic pain. I myself have chronic pain. I too am often gaslighted by people close to me, not believed by healthcare providers, and feel like a burden. 

This book examines chronic illness but with a twist. What happens when you have forced to walk a mile in someone’s shoes? What happens when you have to eat your hurtful words? 

Another well written and thought provoking novel from Ann Petry. Wow what a wonderful contributor to the world of literature.
