I enjoyed how this book was essentially about a recently disabled person refunding joy and passion in life and in herself. As for its inclusion into this world I am curious to see where it goes!

This was so different from other fantasies I’ve read and I really enjoyed it, I’m excited to see where the story continues to go!

I enjoyed this one much more than the first two, things are starting to fall together very pleasingly.

Dalinar’s memory coming back and making him stronger, as well as Shallan not knowing which person is the true hero, and Kalladin’s clear depression create imperfect heroes that Sanderson writes so well it is easy to see oneself in a fake magical character conjured up for a fake world. It is truly remarkable how well he does this.

I think I must mention this in my review or I will not remember and I want to. I am so sad that Sanderson killed Alicar. He was growing into a character I loved, and for it to happen with his son in his arms really devastated me. I wish he had gotten the ending he deserved.

3/5

The concept of this book is good and I will definitely be continuing into the series but it was most definitely too long for what it was. All of what matters takes place in the last quarter and much of the reveals really don’t matter to the other structure created in the other 3/4.

Madeline Miller could write a grocery list and I’d read it
emotional funny inspiring reflective fast-paced

While there is no doubt this memoir is written very well and is an interesting story, as well as one that examines apartheid honestly, it only gets 3.75 from me simply because the Noah writes with the timeline jumping all over the place and it was extremely difficult to follow where we were in his life.

Despite that frustration I deeply enjoyed this memoir. Noah’s life has truly been one of trials and tribulations, his success in the face of everything is truly incredible. I will always look up to him.

The ending of this book with Trevor and his mother in the hospital room made me smile. Patricia Noah sounds like the kind of woman that deserves more than one book to be written about her, it is clear this memoir is more a tribute to her than to Trevor himself, and those moments are where it shines.

This book conjured CS Lewis to me, the way it was written just kept pulling me back to the Chronicles of Narnia and the way Lewis wrote the series. I’m not sure if anyone else felt that way, especially since the stories are very different.

Goddammit I want the second book right now. Amazing ending.

If you love art heists, black market antiquities deals, and schemes upon schemes, or anything of the like then this book is 100% for you.
