I love books with strong characters and this one was full of them—every single one jumped off the page with their strong personalities, emotions and jokes. It felt like at times I was right there in Somers with Freya, Aubrey, Jam and the rest of the crew. 

This book sheds light on how our upbringing changes not only how we view the world, but how we view ourselves and other people. It’s about the courage to look back on your past and be brave enough to change your future.

At first, I didn’t think I was going to like this book. Science fiction isn’t something I normally read and it was really hard for me to understand at times—I really had to take my time reading this one. However, Andy Weir writes such lovable characters and the humor in this book made the dark subject a little lighter. 

All in all, I would definitely recommend to anyone who is a fan of science fiction or to someone, like myself, who is trying to dip their toes into the genre. 

I’ve rewritten this review about three times now and each time, I can never do this book justice. This book is a work of art and if you’re on the fence about reading it, just do it. It’s a beautiful read—strong characters that just jump off the page. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll go through every emotion possible as you follow Cyril Avery on his journey through life. 

A psychological thriller about grief, lies, betrayal and how far three mothers will go in order to protect their children. 

Although this book kept me guessing, I felt like it dragged a lot, especially towards the end.

This book follows three alternative versions of one storyline, each one changed based on the name chosen for the infant child. It shows how small decisions, such as a name, can turn into a series of larger, life-changing events. 

I loved the concept of this book and how it was written from three different (but seemingly the same) perspectives. It took me a minute to understand how the book was set up but once I got it, I was instantly hooked.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because the epilogue annoyed me and it kind of ruined the ending of the rest of the book. 

Wow wow wow I absolutely loved this book. A story about family, heartache, love, and nostalgia. Truly one of a kind and I can’t wait to read more by Ann Patchett.

I’m a huge Lucinda Berry fan but this book was a let down for me. It started going in one direction and I was like “wow this is great”. And then it changed directions and I was like “what is happening here?” It just felt like the original plot fell apart in the second half of the book and completely lost me. 

Beautifully written! This author managed to write a cast of characters that really jumped off that page and just made you love them (even Ove). 

This book takes the heavy topic of grief, how it can be all consuming to the point that you just want to give up and give in to death just to be with your loved one again. And then it spins it into another perspective that maybe your passed loved one is looking out for you by putting certain people in your life, in order to give you purpose again.

I loved and hated this book at the same time. The characters were annoying, but that’s how it is supposed to be because this book is about toxic relationships. The plot line seemed dragged out and yet the reader is left with so many questions at the end. Not sure if I’ll finish this series but only time will tell.

I’m not normally a sci-fi girl but I thought I would give this book a shot since it’s Stephen King and he can do no wrong. 

This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and throws you right into this fucked up world of kids with psychic abilities that are put into basically a concentration camp. I loved every second of it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get into Mr. King’s books.
