I enjoyed this quite a lot! The world-building was very good and so were the characterizations etc. I enjoyed the foreshadowing and reveals throughout the book. Honestly, I just did not "vibe" with this book as much as I thought I would. I'll definitely continue with the series sometime if my library has them.

Read only the chapters I needed for class. Probably effects my rating as I was not intrinsically motivated to rate this book. Not bad though when it comes to texts books, could have been way worse.

Finished it before it was due! I'm going to buy my own copy and read it more carefully & take notes at some point.

Not terrible, but I didn't find it very engaging, though I was reading it as an ebook on my phone bc Canadian Kindle won't let you put library books on it like American Kindle, and I did not care enough to finish the last 200 pages.

Read this in one sitting this morning before classes. It's pretty engaging but drags in the middle. I can't say quite when, but at some point, it felt like the writing style nodded off a bit, and a lot of the mystery and intrigue was gone.

Excited to continue the series.

These stories are very short and there are a lot of them so they get repetitive very quickly.

As with any anthology some are better than others.

I'm not quite sure what was up with Alina's story as it was all about some kids who prayed to her. I was hoping it would be some sort of embellished or trained account of the Shadow and Bone series. For some of these saints it felt like they didn't really do anything at all but then you have the remember what point religion and saints would play in people's lives and how a story like this could become a mythos, and I would have loved to see the contrast between the real events and how it was being told.
