I found some of the comments felt very repetitive and it got a bit boring, but for the most part I found this to be a very interesting look into the development of the show and I wish there were more books like this for musicals. I absolutely love these behind-the-scenes type stuff. I love knowing how things work, especially in areas i know nothing about and that frankly make no sense to me. My brain hates poetry/music unless htere's a strong narrative to it.

I liked most of the patterns on here! They're absolutely stunning. I don't know if I could knit all of these in my lifetime, but one of the dresses is something I hope I will commit to one day.

As much as I want to love this series, it is wholly not for me. I gave the series a second chance with this installment, but just the first one I can't tell you what happened. It failed to keep my interest, and I ended up skimming the majority of the book.

Another fun book I wish I had read when I was younger. I hope I can get the rest of the series, I cannot wait to finish it again.  It was so fun and imaginative. The characters are compelling and the plot is stellar. It's well-paced and an enjoyable read, I definitely recommend it.

Quite a few thoughts. Loved the art! I haven't read many mangas, but I thought the expressiveness of the characters was excellent and a lot of fun, I'm sure young readers love it! And the details are stellar. They tried very hard to make the parts of the story told through song stand out against the rest of the book.

I'm not sure the story adapted well to manga. It brought to light how rushed some of the plot is, and the emotional moments felt a bit lost since you weren't able to dwell on them in the same way. In addition, there were a few areas where I wasn't sure I would have known exactly what happened if I had not seen the movie - which is not good. This is surprising since I've found that movie-to-book adaptations are usually quite good. I wonder if it's a medium or adaptation thing.

Nothing new was added, it is basically the movie beat for beat. I've always enjoyed it when novelizations have a bit more meat, it gives you a little bonus for reading the books and often allows for explanations and the inclusion of cut scenes/ideas, although this can result in a better story. Again, this made me wonder if this was not the case because of the rush of the production. Watching the movie, it feels like there were too many chefs in the kitchen, and this exacerbated it since it feels like it jumps from plot beat to plot beat. The ending feels like an entire section is missing when Elsa just goes off into the forest and it left me with more questions than the films: how does everyone feel about this, especially Anna? She spent all of the first movie wanting a connection with her sister now her sister just left. Maybe they were leaving it open for a sequel, but it's so messy that I feel bad for whoever has to make one.

But I do believe the real seller of this is the art. Again, it is stunning. I love it. I want my own copy.

Mackintosh's writign style is very dense. She has an amazing recollection, and the story is moving, but getting through it can be hard. She recalls everything in chilling detail, but perhaps wasn't the best writer when it came to communicating the story.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about other books by this author, so I guess there's a reason why I found this at the second-hand store and not the others. There were some points of good writing in this, but that was it. The plot was lacklustre, nonsensical, and dumb. The characters were annoying. So annoying. So stupid. So many simple things could have been done to make this better and none of those things were done. I've been forcing myself to finish it today so that it doesn't ruin my day tomorrow.

It's been such a long time since I've read a book in this series and I was putting it off in case it wasn't as good as I remember. Fortunately, I loved this! Very engaging, and I was reading in large chunks every time I sat down. I found the pacing a bit slow.
