Kiss of Snow is probably one of my favourite books in the Psy-Changeling series, probably second only to Slave to Sensation and the romance of Sasha and Lucas where this journey all begins. This is the 10th book in the series, and honestly this series for me only gets better in terms of the wider plot-line and world development. Although some of the individual romance lines vary in terms of how much I like them, the overall build up of political alliances, war and machinations is incredibly exciting.

It's difficult without going into too much detail about major plot spoilers for the previous books about why I love this one so much. One aspect that I do adore though is Hawke and Sienna. Throughout the books we have seen these characters on the periphery, learned about them and grown to care and be concerned for them and their future. The romance is bristly and uncertain, but it's also smoking hot and exciting. I love the relationship that develops between Hawke and Sienna and how they work around her youth and supposed inexperience, and his position as Alpha to compromise on appropriate standings in their relationships.

There is so much to love about this series, and I cannot wait to keep reading soon.

Silence Fallen was actually a book in the Mercy Thompson series that I was not expecting to 5*, but against all odds an author has actually managed to get to make me fall more and more in love with a series. Patricia Briggs has managed to take her series from strength to strength and that's not always something you see by book 10 of a series.

I was mostly sceptical of this book because it seemed that Mercy would be distanced from all those secondary characters like Adam, Stefan, Zee, and the pack who generally round off the Mercy Thompson series and make it great. However, Briggs cleverly wove in new characters, new cities and new plot twists that really tied nicely together.

We also got a refreshing new twist as we managed to get multiple chapters from Adam's POV and really get into the mind of a werewolf and examine his relationship with Mercy from his side. This was great because the one element that I really love about the Mercy Thompson series is the lack of drama between Adam and Mercy. They are a strong couple, who love each other, work through their problems and do not fight for the sake of it. This was really highlighted in the last book where Adam's ex-wife came back into the picture, and Adam was supportive of Mercy and not his ex-wife. Briggs only went on to strengthen this relationship as we got Adam's perspective on relations and saw the two separated. It also meant that this novel was not entirely about furthering Mercy and Adam's relationship which lots of lengthy series involving a romance tend to do.

This book really highlighted how resourceful, canny and sassy Mercy is. She's such a strong, female character and so well rounded. She never gives up fighting and always manages to get into tonnes of trouble which makes these stories so interesting. This installment also highlighted how strong friendship and family can be and that is one of the core features about the Mercy Thompson series I really like. This is not just about a man saving his girlfriend, this is about a woman saving herself and having great friends who can help her out.

There was also a big plot twist at the end that I did not predict or expect. I love books that can still surprise me and quite often in urban-fantasy books there are very standard plots that novels follow. However, its nice to know I can still be surprised.

Overall, this leaves me really sad that I have finally read all 10 Mercy Thompson books and need to wait until another one is actually released to read more. It's safe to say this series is now a firm favourite and I'll be re-reading it again sometime, after a short break because I can't seem to put the books down or sleep when I start reading them. In the meantime, I'll be moving onto the Alpha & Omega series to fill the void of having no Mercy.

Reread for the third time; I needed something comforting and this was everything I needed right now. This book warms my insides and takes me away to a happy place.

Second reread:
GAH!

I just finished reading this for the second time and I am still so much in love with Levi and Cather and the whole story. I will admit I got a bit bored by the Simon/Baz sections. However, I stayed up very late and did nothing this morning until I finished reading.

I'm yet to read another Rainbow Rowell book because I just can't bring myself to do it after how much I loved this one. There was so much I could relate to. It was quirky, funny, sad and tackled so many different issues that makes it refreshing and realistic.

This is just one of those books I will always love. I just can't help it.
