this was such a sweet novella! the cast was so good! it was so fun💗💗💗 i really enjoyed!

i usually dont gravitate toward self help books, but i found that this one had a lot of legitimately useful information. my only gripe is that sometimes it didnt feel like it was for adults

A biography of Andrew Jackson has the opportunity to explore power, racism, masculinity, war, and other prominent themes from Jackson's life. This missed out on all of that. I felt like I learned absolutely nothing. It was way too long for the amount of information I gained from it. Meacham's outlook on Jackson's racism, the fact that he was an enslaver, and his initiation of a literal genocide is disappointing. He concedes that Jackson's actions were wrong, but his admonishment feels more like a slap on the wrist than an actual critique of Jackson's inhumane practices. He also, in my opinion, glosses over many of Jackson's violent tendencies. He mentions that Jackson killed someone in a duel, but barely talks about it. To me, the fact that the President of the United States killed someone, as well as his gruesome actions during his military career, feel like noteworthy points. Meacham has a fairly positive attitude toward Jackson, which I just totally cannot fathom. He is one of the most deplorable figures in all of history, in my opinion. This book was not overrun with flaws, however. The writing was fine, and it was actually interesting to learn about Jackson's family and his interactions with his contemporaries, especially the women in his life, although the way Meacham talked about Margaret Bayard Smith reeked of misogyny. I don't know much about Margaret Bayard Smith, but I am sure that she got enough gender discrimination in life, so if Meacham has actual criticisms of her, I would have rather seen him detail her flaws instead of painting her as a useless female stereotype. Whatever. This book was just a waste of time for me personally. 

i think she should have had to apologize for the time she was mean to him. i liked this, but villain mmcs are hard for me. i would read more from this author. and i liked the plot

this is like the perfect cowboy romance. good characters, solid writing, low-angst, lots of charm, a small town that isnt insufferable, and probably my favorite book cover of all time

i wasnt super into it at the beginning, but i got attached to the characters and their relationship. i didnt like that she lied, but i liked the conflict that came out of it. it was a nice scottish romance

this was my first lisa kleypas book, and i liked it. i really liked cam, even if he could be a little *old fashioned*. but some of the subplots weren’t my fav. and i like how it sets up the rest of the series

i like the hathaway family as a whole, but these 2 are probably my least favorite. win is lowkey stupid and kev doesn’t really have a personality besides being grumpy & obsessed w her

i loved this!!! i think harry’s character arc was very well executed, and i absolutely loved poppy. although his character was well done, harry is still not my fav, and i think its weird that we dont know how old he is?? or maybe i just didnt catch that part

but i am also just obsessed w the whole family (except kev & win). I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE BUT I HAVE TO WAIT TWO WEEKS AT MY LIBRARY BUT I NEED IT RIGHT NOW I LOVE LEO SO MUCH

this book definitely deserves the hype! i wished the epistolary section was a little more, and i wish we got a little bit more exploration into beatrix’s character. this book really highlighted the whole family, and i overall enjoyed it

lighthearted, easy, and fun with good characters and good spice, but some parts were cringey and i didnt like the conflict

i love these characters so much that it makes me kind of want to cry. they are so perfect. i dont like pregnancy trope, but i heard such good things about this that i just had to try it. i thought that it was done just about as well a pregnancy trope can be done. im glad there werent a lot of medical details. one thing i didnt love was that bo was a little *too* perfect, which sounds weird, but although he was AMAZING, he should have had some more flaws imo. also, i was confused by win’s relationship with her mom. but i was very glad about the lack of a third act breakup🤌🤌🤌
