i didnt like the beginning that much, but then i actually found some parts of it very sweet. i also think the writing got better as the book went along. lily was kind of annoying tho, esp at the end

i was excited for this because it is short and written by a woman, but i was disappointed. yes, it was short, but the end was very abrupt. also, i feel like she excused his racism and war crimes. like she said he was against torture in the philippine-american war, but he didnt do anything about it?? i also did not like the way she talked about his later political career (post-presidency). yes, roosevelt did a lot of good things, and she pointed them out, but there were some things she didnt point out, like the hypocrisy of him being a conservationist and hunting a bunch of big game in africa. also, the whole vibe of his trip to africa. i just didn’t like the tone she used to talk about most things. it was informative, though, and not completely bad

this review is basically the same review i have given for every chloe liese book: good story, good characters, good spice, but cringey and unrealistic dialogue

this was not my fav from ruby. i mean i like the story and her writing is fun, and i liked the characters, but i felt like the language barrier lasted too long and there wasnt much chemistry imo.
informative medium-paced

pretty informative and well written. i didnt love some of the conclusions, and i feel like he somewhat misrepresented the relationship between mckinley and TR, but it was still good, albeit not very memorable.

i actually really liked gwen! vaan was also precious. at one point, he says that rast was more feral than he was, but idk if that’s true with vaan’s memory loss🤨 i also dont love the developments with azar or the foreshadowing. i dont like villain as hero. i might skip his book🤷‍♀️

the second one was probably my favorite, the first was my second fav, and the third was my least fav. i almost dnf the third because caelen was so insufferable at the beginning, which sucks cause i loved him in the first two, but i definitely thought it got better. also, the caretaking scenes in all of maya banks’ historicals >>>>
