2nd reread (3rd overall read): it gets better every time. it is so raw and the sexual tension absolutely kills me.

3rd reread (4th overall read): i have recently read a lot of negative reviews about Stephanie Perkins’s books, and so i was very critical going into this read, and i did find a lot of flaws, but in the end, it is so charming and beautiful that i just can’t bring myself to not love it. this book holds such a special place in my heart, and i feel so nostalgic toward it. i can’t believe i doubted it for a second

stephanie perkins never fails to amaze me. all of her books are heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. i know a lot of people dont like her books, but most of her books are my all time favs. i have read anna and lola many many times, and i cannot believe i waited so long to pick this one up. words cannot even describe it. reading this is a necessity. isla is one of my all time favorite characters.

1st reread: stephanie perkins NEVER misses. she writes real people. she writes REAL relationships. her books are the perfect length, too. not so short that it feels unfinished but not so long that it feels unnecessary.

I was very excited to read this book! Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I didn’t like the format of it being told from Cleves’ perspective and her being best bros with Henry. I understand that some historical liberties can be taken, like

Jane Seymour moving away rather than dying, the lack of childbirth, etc.  

but I did not like his relationship with Cleves. I also didn’t really like Cleves’ character. She was fake and indecisive. Most of this book felt like unnecessary fluff that did not contribute anything to the plot. There are many other retellings of this story that I would recommend far, far more. The things I liked in the story were Henry being homecoming king, his football number being 8, Cleves’ feminism, and Cat Parr’s scheming. This book was almost 3 stars because some parts were interesting, but overall I just didn’t like the pacing enough for it to be 3 stars.

My least fav rachel cohn & david levithan so far, but still pretty good. i didn’t really enjoy the first 50 pages or so, but it got much better as it progressed. i didn’t love the characters, except for gabriel he was a sweetie, but the story itself was sweet and heartwarming.

this is probably the thousandth time i’ve read this book, i just havent recorded each of my reads. i know this series tends to be polarizing, but i LOVE it. this read, i found myself really appreciating the social commentary. america is the perfect person to be queen. i honestly wish more politicians were like her. however, i do wish we would see more of america’s music.

i honestly don’t even know why i love these books so much but i do. i hate love triangles and female competition, but these books are just my kryptonite. this is my least favorite of the trilogy, but i still think it’s amazing. the scene with america and maxon in the shelter room is one of my favorite scenes of all time. and america’s proposal to end the castes is so amazing. like she is so cool and would be a great queen. she is such a flawed character, but i really do love her. same with maxon. and her maids. ugh its just so good.

i love this book so much. maxon and america are both so stupid, but i understand where they are coming from and i love them both dearly. this book has some of my fav quotes. ugh i just love it.

It’s a pretty good book. It was clearly well-researched, and I found most of it very interesting. There were a few inconsistencies, such as Hermione not being listed on the Ministers of Magic page and Ron not being mentioned as a wizard who appears on a chocolate frog card. I also wish they would have used better quotes for some of the characters. The quotes seemed so random and irrelevant.

I really like Ayn Rand’s writing style. Nothing else though. Since this book is so famous, I expected more insightful commentary than “capitalism good, socialism bad” but that was not delivered. It is also far too long for what it is.
