LOVED this book! Definitely perfect for my SJM hangover, felt very similar in terms of writing style (and actually very reminiscent of Throne of Glass) but with its own unique twist. Can’t wait to get further into this series, especially after big twists at the end!
Started reading this on a plane.. immediately realized this was a mistake due to INTENSE SPICE LEVELS. but did that stop me from finishing it in 4 hours? Absolutely not. I was definitely hoping for a bit more of a mythological take, but I enjoyed it for what it was! Also, big fan of the focus on consent here so bonus points for that!
I wanted to like this book because I quite enjoyed the first in the series but I was really disappointed. The plot felt basic and just kind of lacking substance, and I didn’t feel as connected to Psyche and Eros as I did with Persephone and Hades. The whole reason for them getting together felt like such a stretch and i just couldn’t buy into it. Still some good spice but even that didn’t wow me.
This book blew me away. I truly wasn’t wowed by From Blood and Ash, and wasn’t going to continue with the series but I’m SO glad I did. I felt so much more connected to Poppy and Casteel’s stories and couldn’t wait to find out more. Also Cas is a shameless flirt and I am HERE FOR IT.
Ugh this series just keeps getting better.. loved the realness of this one, she just manages to bring this element of normalcy into her dialogue that makes me feel so much more connected to the characters. Also Poppy is an absolute BADASS and I am obsessed.
Just.. so good. I loved seeing Poppy and Kieran’s relationship grow and develop while Cas was captive, and just the wholehearted trust between the 3 of them. Trying to figure out the prophecy and Poppy’s role and who and what she is was a little much and I felt like I got a little bit of whiplash from all of it but the ending made it all worth it, what a frickin RIDE. Can’t believe I have to wait to read the next one
Ohhh my heart. I loved this book SO much. The journeys through grief and love and trust and ALL OF IT. I cannot get enough of this world.
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this book? First off, I enjoyed the more whimsical Faerie world concept (compared to SJM type worlds). I’m definitely intrigued by the story and curious to know where things go, but I feel like I haven’t fully bought into the characters yet, and I wanted a lot more from this book.
I really wanted to love this book but it still just was not it for me. I felt like hardly anything really happened for the first half, then I started to enjoy it for a bit, and then the ending just threw me for a loop (but not in a good way?). Idk, I did enjoy it, just wanted more from it.
