This book did NOT do it for me! The concept was intriguing but the writing itself was not great. I didn’t feel connected to the characters at all, and felt like she made the children (who are major characters) so one dimensional. I also did not love the constant switching between viewpoints and years, as it made things difficult to track. Overall really disappointed with this read.

I absolutely LOVED the writing style of this book - fun, witty, easy to read. I couldn’t get enough. I do wish the synopsis didn’t give away a major plot twist, as it would have been fun to figure it out along the way. But overall, a great summer beach read with enough whimsy and loveable characters that it’s easy to get swept away!

YES. Could not put this down (as with the rest of the series but ESPECIALLY this one). Loving the multiple perspectives SJM offers and the TWISTS - ooooh just so good. How she manages to get me fully invested in SO many characters and their development, I’ll never know, but I never want it to end.

Honestly hard to find the words for this one. The fall apart to come together. Everything that I hoped and dreamed would happen did (and then some), and yet I was still surprised. I feel like I’m on an epic adventure and I constantly cannot wait to see what happens next.

Much slower to start and harder to get into because I just CAN’T with Chaol the whiny baby sometimes. Absolutely worth sticking through it though cause DANG things get good. Such interesting plot developments and I just love emotional breakthroughs ya know? Honestly not ready for the series to end

Absolutely loved getting a glimpse into Celaena’s life pre-TOG, read this book at the very end and honestly very happy with this decision. I feel like it allowed me to be more surprised throughout the rest of the series and then look back with more appreciation and insight for some of the big moments that are only briefly talked about.
