Oh my Goodness... THIS BOOK!!

I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did, it was so good

wow, this book was INTENSE and I loved every second of it.

Rating: ☆☆☆.5

This book was actually quite dark, which I wasn't expecting. Ngl, I was unsure about the relationship at first. Vicious was abusive and just an asshole, and Emilia seemed to just take everything Vicious threw at her. I also *HATED* the objectification of women in this book. Like I don't care if we're in the mind of a teenage boy, it wasn't necessary. There are so many other ways you can make your main character look like a dick without demeaning women to do it.

But, the relationship grew on me. As Emilia got older and started putting herself first, the relationship wasn't as toxic and I didn't feel awful for shipping for them. I loved their angsty interactions and I really admire Emilia's self-awareness when it came to Vicious and also her inner strength. (Also, I just read a review where someone said Vicious reminds them of Cardan Greenbriar and OMFG yes!! Vicious is a much bigger bully than Cardan is, but the relationship dynamic and the enemy to lovers vibe is so similar. So if you liked Carden and Jude's relationship, you might like this...)

The one thing I could've done without: the descriptions of Emilia's horrible outfits. I'm sorry but the second hand embarrassment is real. I swear at one point she was wearing silver leggind with cowboy boots... ✋

This was fun, entertaining, hilarious at times... but it was also your average romance book. There wasn't anything new, fresh or original. The smut scenes were slightly cringey. Overall, I just wanted more?

Okay, this just felt like a mashup of every YA novel I've ever read. There was nothing original or unique. I hated the main character, I just found her extremely irritating.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because I did think it was entertaining.

This is one of those books that I won't even remember by the end of the month.

Ahhh this was the cutest story!!
There were so many elements of this book that I LOVED. When I saw this was a female-female romance, I knew I had to read it. I liked that the romance was quite a slow burn romance, it wasn't rushed. We saw Jo and Emma's friendship gradually morph into something more, and I'm so grateful that it wasn't insta-love. I'm also incredibly grateful for the feminist themes. I loved that this book touched on women's rights, and was full of strong women.

It was everything, highly recommend.

4.5 Stars

I haven't read a Colleen hoover book for a long time. All I remembered about her novels, is that she writes beautiful, addicting love stories. This one is no different. She presents love as passion and longing and something consuming, it's beautiful. I love the way she writes characters as well. By the end of Confess, I felt like I was parting with a friend. I can't wait to read more of her books.

This kinda felt like I was reading a badly written Wattpad novel lmao.

reread | please i loved this even more the second time round
