A very thoughtful study of medicine, from the view of both a physician and a patient.

"When there’s no place for the scalpel, words are the surgeon’s only tool."

The most confusing installment of the series. The scale of the story got to being a bit too grand and I didn't connect with the characters the way I did in the first book.

Not quite as good as Native Tongue but still a very delightful read. Nazareth provides the emotional core of the series, and her diminished presence in this novel thus diminished the quality of the novel.

The perfect intersection between feminist literature and science fiction! The focus on misogyny and prejudice was very carefully done. Nazareth was such an interesting character and Michaela Landry was just delightful. Every little piece felt like it had its purpose.

I don't want to join a sorority. I want to join the Bunny cult and sacrifice rabbits in order to bring to life boys of my own creation.

This was an incredibly interesting read and a very nuanced take on the alienation of being a young queer person trying to interact with your heterosexual peers.

Cute rom-com-y romance. I especially liked that Gus and January were authors; it made them more interesting.

Very silly read but all of the characters were pretty one-dimensional

I have to admit, I was expecting it to be equally mystery and coming-of-age, but it turned out to be more courtroom drama than mystery. Not to say that I didn’t like it — I did — but I would have preferred a heavier element of mystery.

My favorite aspect was the descriptions of the marsh, which were so detailed and precise that it read like a love letter to coastal North Carolina.

Truly wonderful romance! I adored Alex and Poppy, both on their own and as a couple. The descriptions of all the different places they visited were really enchanting!

Pretty good murder mystery. I thought that the ending worked well, but I think the pacing of the middle was a little weird. It never really felt like any progress was being made on the case until the very end.
