I have to admit, I was expecting it to be equally mystery and coming-of-age, but it turned out to be more courtroom drama than mystery. Not to say that I didn’t like it — I did — but I would have preferred a heavier element of mystery. 

My favorite aspect was the descriptions of the marsh, which were so detailed and precise that it read like a love letter to coastal North Carolina.
