I listened to this book and so didn't have any trouble with the Jamaican patois, it was fairly clear when they were cursing and what they were talking about, etc. However, I didn't have access to the character list and I really wanted to refer back to other sections because the timeline and extensive amount of characters got very confusing at times. So I would recommend listening to the book, but also maybe having a copy on hand. At the very least, you can google the character list.
While this was an enjoyable book without knowing anything about Jamaica or Bob Marley, I think people who know a lot about either thing might enjoy it more.

I'm not sure whether I enjoyed this book less than the others because I've forgotten the previous ones or because I listened to them and read this one. Listening to the books is definitely way better than reading them.
It started kind of slow and very slowly got more exciting. Some of the characters weren't well developed so it got hard to keep track of who was who later in the story.
It was just meh. Cheyenne is just not a character I can get excited about. There was way, way too much setup, with little devoted to character development. I checked it out from the library and after I renewed it for the third time and still didn't finish it (despite it not being a hefty book), I decided it was time to put this one down.
This is a true crime novel that reads like fiction. The story is interesting but perhaps did not need to be made into a book. The author's original idea seems to have been to write a magazine article and I think that would have been a better choice as the story felt stretched to be fit into book form.
