I love all of Krista Davis’ cozy mystery series and this new series is no exception. I look forward to seeing this series develop.

I really enjoyed this! It’s not often that cozy mysteries revolve around immigrant families and it’s a welcome change to the norm. This has a good cast of characters and lots of potential for future books. Great debut!

This book was trying to hit all the notes to be a topical book, dealing with sexual assault, self-harm, suicide, LGBTQ identity and autism but it ended up being messy and offensive and pretty poorly written.

When I decided to review this book, I was a bit apprehensive. Sometimes books like these are vehicles for more of a paranormal romance type of book, which isn’t really my cup of tea. But this book had wonderful world building and character introductions. The plot was well developed. I’m so happy this book is exactly what I wanted.

Super predictable.

The writing on this was pretty flimsy. The protagonist’s motivations and drive weren’t convincing enough and the secondary characters fell into pretty broad stereotypes.

I love this series. This book was complex and simple and all the things you want in a mystery.
