This was so good. I can't believe I've never read it. 105th book on Mustich's list for me.
Beautiful artwork and charming stories. The third story in particular about the grandfather when he was a postman was excellent.
This is genuinely a unique storyline! Mirka was super spunky and I loved the family dynamic! Great artwork as well.
This should have been great and was just okay. I really like the kalachakra 'Replay" aspect of it and just did not care for the cat and mouse game, which felt like a mediocre spy novel.
This had a very convoluted storyline. The chapters were hard to keep track of. I wanted to like it because the subject matter is so important but the execution was pretty off
I like this as a quick overview of world religions but it is highly subjective.

I almost DNFed this as an adult with a strong interest in this topic. I am really struggling to see who this was written for because I can't think of one regular in my library who I would recommend this to. More specifically, I cannot think of any middle schooler who would be continuously engaged by the writing.

I shelved this at the library and the cover caught my eye. I typically don't bring home "True Tales" for my kids because those titles don't really hold their attention but I pre-read this and the story was so fascinating I knew I wanted to check it out.
Their attention was rapt from page 1. The art is great and I love that this isn't a book about a famous person. It's one unique event in the life of a man who could have been anyone's grandfather.
The front pages have lots of woodland animals so we had a nice time talking about all the animals that live on our property (we abut a stand of trees) that also live in Gowganda. There are lots of probing questions one could do with this book.
