A genuinely great graphic novel I think everyone would benefit from reading. This dense, insightful look at the origins of how media is delivered feels slightly dated as the publication date is 2011, but is still largely impactful. I would love to read an updated version. The art is perfect, it's extremely clear, additive, and conveys more than the text alone.

I wish all non-fiction graphic novels were this well presented.

This was one heck of a short story. Highly recommended if you need something quick that will arrest your attention immediately.

Imagine if a Hieronymus Bosch painting was a book. That’s the level of weird this achieves.

I think this is a very useful graphic novel that gives a basic overview of various pieces of voting legislation and the history behind them. It’s current as of 2020. I’d recommended it maybe 9th grade and up.

Absolutely love a Sherlock Holmes mystery. I'm not sure why I never considered Hound of the Baskervilles to be the first. Perhaps it's just the most popular.

A Study in Scarlet is a fun, quick read.

Truly excellent graphic novel adaptation about a young boy whose father works in the fields of Central California during the first half of the 20th century. I didn’t realize when I picked this up it was adapted from an earlier text but I’m going to check the stories out now.

The narrative is not contiguous, it’s slices of the author’s life, but I feel like this format works well. The art for this is very well done as well.

This is one of the only books that everyone I. My house has read. My kids loved it! On to the sequels!

I can’t believe this has so few reviews, it was excellent. Women Who Dig is a three year research foray into the struggles and success of female farmers around the world. The author contrasts the unique issues women face when farming versus their male counterparts.

From farming in the wake of Congolese genocide to eking out an existence as a migrant in Sonoma county, to the wholistic urban farming of Cuba, the situations in which women have turned to the earth to provide could not be more different.

I’d recommend this if you’re interested in women’s studies, sociology, or conservationism.

One man’s ridiculous quest to build a toaster from scratch. It’s entertaining and very informative. The end result looks like one of Gary Larson’s cow tools, lol.
