I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. I was skeptical at first but then I found it completely absorbing. Reading about what that poor man went through after his wife died had me in tears.

Just like Oryx & Crake, it's fascinating how easily I can see our own future ending up like theirs. We're not there yet in technology, but we're taking baby steps towards many of their practices. I can't wait to read book 3, which is hopefully about the survivors.

Amazing. Felt like a biography, not fiction.

Even though I've read it before, I thought it started out pretty slow. It wasn't until after the characters parted ways that I felt it got more interesting. Definitely picked up more the more I read.

I found it sort of slow paced, but I really enjoyed it. I liked all of the Ballet history and the first person accounts of what life was like back then. The switching between character views confused me at first, but got easier.

A perfect conclusion to the series, I loved hearing about Zeb's perspective and filling in all the gaps. Glad it worked out for most of them, but I was quite upset by the last page.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. It may be that I'm simply unfamiliar with diaries and travel journals, but I found this novel quite slow and uninteresting. About a young woman traveling with her cousin, I thought they would have more exciting adventures, instead it's almost a point form accounting of all the places they ate, murals they saw, and which men paid for what.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. It was beautiful, a great mix of past and present. It reminded me a bit of The Time Traveler's Wife, much better than I expected.

Better than I expected, but the summary in the beginning ruined the plot for me.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. It had an interesting plot and I enjoyed that it was almost steampunk-y, with all of the alloys and powers and things. But I felt it went too far into alchemy and feruchemy and I got lost in all the detail.
