Emil Ferris’ work is beautiful—I will definitely purchase the sequel when it is released.

This book gets five stars because it's poetry and it almost made me cry. I usually don't resonate with poetry when I am alone and reading it by myself, but there was something about this that was raw, simple, and beautiful.

This story deals with a lot of difficult topics surrounding death so make sure to check the Trigger Warnings if you are at all concerned.

The story:
Regardless of the difficulty of this story, it is still sweet and enjoyable to read. This story is definitely one focused on character development and does have a plot but it's found more toward the last third of the book. However, all the characters are so enjoyable, different, and alive that I found it to be such an enjoyable read.

Audiobook:
I thought the narrator was just delightful. The deepness of Hugo's voice, the lightness of May's--the variety and character he brought to every single voice in this story was fantastic.

One small issue I had:
There was ONE problematic aspect that I identified in this book and it's  (TW bt for the spoiler <spoiler>the fact that Cameron killed himself to be with Wallace, his suicide ultimately seems like it was rewarded. This might be something I would not want someone going through this kind of grief to read. I mean, he technically did not kill himself to be with the love of his life, but it still seemed like cause and effect.</spoiler>

Recommendation:

Overall, if you are not concerned regarding the TW, I would suggest you read this book if you enjoy Klune's other writings, like enjoyable characters and following their growth, and want to be transported to a cozy tea shop.

While I do not support Rainbow Rowell, I purchase this book before I realized that she’s kind of a problematic author. However, I felt like this book was not problematic at all and I feel like it will be some thing I want to read when that fall mood hits. It was really sweet and kind of echo the sentiments that I have in my own love life.
Obsessing about someone you’ve never met and having idealized version is never good

The artwork was adorable and I want to read more that the illustrator has done.

I think this book is really beautiful. It helped me have a greater insight into Latinx culture as well as the experiences of Trans youth. I’m really glad I purchased this book because it is one that I would definitely go back and reread.

I  want to read more of aiden Thomas’ work, as I can’t wait to see what else they write.

The reason why I’m not giving this book 5 stars is because there were some slight pacing issues—most noticeably at the end. Another issue I had was
The characterization of Yadriel’s uncle just didn’t 100% register for me. I could understand his anger and frustration but I felt like maybe there should have been a bit more forewarning. It was definitely a twist, but it overall fell a bit flat.

However, I would 100% recommend this book for anyone who enjoys why are you literature, anyone in the mood for something a bit more spooky, and someone who is looking for some sweet romance. I enjoyed all three of the main characters and found them all to be wonderful and unique personalities.

Good for children. A nostalgic classic that reminded me of when I was little.

I found the movie to be great. The book was ok—Hugo and the girl fighting was a bit much.
