This rewrite took a great book and made it an absolutely incredible one. I loved every change and honestly it felt like a completely different book. I obviously know the overarching story having read The Bone Season before but I was on the edge of my seat half the time. can't wait to reread the rest of them.

I wanted to like this and even tried a couple of times! I loved the premise but this just wasn't for me. It sort of felt that the story was confusing and I often didn't really know what was going on. The characters never really came to live past being shitty people in pain. Eating disorders, gore, trauma etc. were all handled in sometimes not the best way for me personally.

I have a lot of feelings about this book. The Final Strife is one of my favourite books of all time and I don't think much could stand up to it. I liked the shorter chapters of this book and multi POV but ultimately it all felt a bit rushed and I would've liked more time to wrap the story up. 

Felt like this release was sort of eclipsed by all the Faebound stuff and not much was made of the book release, which is such a shame because I think this is one of the best and most original fantasy series I've ever read. The handling of the setting, influences and LGBTQIA characters is just fantastic throughout this trilogy and I just hope Saara El-Arifi feels rightfully proud!
