This was recommended to me by a patron. And who doesn't enjoy looking at photographs of baby pandas?

Now, I love Kadir Nelson's work anyway, so I probably would have picked up this book once I noticed who the illustrator was. I enjoyed this story about Jackie Robinson, as told by one of his children. It was a different way of looking at the life of a great person.

This book talks about what various animals do during the winter, whether it be hibernation or not. I thought it was just okay. I found myself skimming it.

While I am not very fond of earthworms myself (in the sense that I quite fine not touching them, thank you, but very grateful for the work they do in the soil) this book made it easy for me to identify with Winnie Finn, who does. I liked her creative way of getting involved in the fair, since it doesn't have an earthworm category. I did find it a little strange, however, that Mrs. Yamasaki-O'Sheridan was in stereotypical clothing that was a little off-putting.

I did like the illustrations in this book, although I found some of them hard to figure out. I thought it was really awesome of Ojiisan to think on his feet of a quick way to save the village, even though it meant burning his rice fields and losing all his wealth.

I enjoyed this book, but I agree with every single person who told me that it is best enjoyed without knowing the twist.
I think this would be an awesome gift from children to fathers.
In the newest Babymouse book, it's time to tackle that most beloved of school-related projects: fundraising. After Babymouse floods the library (by accident of course) the school needs to do a fundraiser to replace the damaged books. The fundraiser will be selling cupcakes, and the winner will get a special prize. Can Babymouse beat Felicia and get the prize?
