I have been intrigued by Edith Head for a while, and this was a good overview of her career. I love the included pictures. I'm definitely not an old Hollywood scholar, so there were names I didn't entirely know and had to look up. I was hoping it would narrow down which Head movies for me to watch and it didn't really. Oh well.

Side note: There are some comments in this book about the size of different women that may be triggering for others. It's not necessarily surprising considering the fashion world, but readers may want to be aware. I don't remember any super racist stuff, but they do talk about using "ethnic" inspiration.

It was a nice twist to have the mystery set in a different place. And what an ending!

So powerful. It broke my heart in a million ways, and then the ending where Stevenson talks about how we are all a little bit broken. Ugh. How do we even begin to pick which problem to tackle first?

Anyway, a version (YA or adult) of this should be required reading for all adults and older teens.

Oh man. No idea how this didn't make the Maine Reader's Choice Award list. It is excellent and I'm glad I made time to read it, especially at this point in time. It's made me think a lot about race and what I take for granted.

So I read this one slowly, while reading other books. Partially because I wanted to savor it (I happen to be a big fan of Obama's speaking style, although this is the first book of his I've read), and partially because I have a library requesting problem so this book that I own a physical copy of had to wait. It explains his thought process through the early years of his presidency. I didn't find myself agreeing with every choice he made, but it did give me an idea of all the different problems he was facing at once, and the ways he tried to tackle them. I'm looking forward to slowly reading the second half as well.

Whoa, that ending! Was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I wonder where it's going from here.

I enjoy this and the one about the grandpa--ones about taking presents you aren't sure you want and making them something better.

This was a book I enjoyed reading as part of a series on saving the Earth.
