I liked this book a lot. I thought it was an accurate representation of a sisterly relationship.
This book is a sequel to "Mira in the Present Tense", which I did not know before reading. It does stand alone. Mira travels to India to find visit her family there, whom she has never met in person before (although they do Skype.) In Kolkata, she gets closer to her family, unravels secrets, and discovers things about herself. I think it is open for a sequel (or, at least I wanted to know more about the romantic resolution.)
I have no idea if this is appropriate for MSBA (probably not) but seriously should be read by every teenager. SO SO SO GOOD. Like, I checked it out from the library but now I need to buy a copy good.
So cute! I loved this book and their creative way of looking at overcoming problems.
I'm giving this only three stars because it's dated, but otherwise it's a really excellent look at what material goods people own around the world, using the average family in each country to calculate. I can see why a teacher would use this as a basis for country reports.
I enjoyed this one a lot, but it's been a while since I read the series, so I think I had the necessary fuzziness to feel like I was discovering scenes again. It also made me want to reread the series to find where these moments fit in. I also really liked the reader of the audiobook.
