Giving this the .5 because it did teach me things but this was surface level and the glossing over some of the horrific things cults did that were mentioned didn’t feel right. And I started to get a little annoyed with the author once I noticed how often it felt like they were on a high horse about not falling for cults.

I decided to read this on a whim without knowing anything beyond the subtitle and when I found out this had happened not far from where I grew up I was shocked. Although, me being a literal baby when he was finally caught definitely contributed to that factor. I know people don’t want to remember the killer but the fact that I hadn’t heard about this left a sore taste in my mouth. I have no problem with not talking about the killer but the victims shouldn’t be forgotten about because of it.

Interesting premise that kept me invested to the very end. That being said the ending fell flat for me.

A quick easygoing palette cleanser. I will admit that I did enjoy the movie more but I would still recommend reading the book.

A cute story that got me to laugh.
