Cool audiobook but I do not enjoy books about women being abused and pedophilia. Probably should have read the description before diving into this one.

Spooky dolls, a twisted family, and humor splashed throughout--a lovely haunted romp.

Actor and disabled rights activist Mia Armstrong tells a fictionalized biography of her true self and how she prefers to be treated: with respect and kindness not by being ignored. Not only does this picture book excel at promoting love and inclusivity, but it uses plot-based experiences that keeps listeners engaged.

Family: Traveling working mom

A little girl expresses relatable frustration as she waits in line at the pool or waits for her feet to touch the pedals of the shiny new bike in the store window. She also must wait for her mama to return from a far away trip.

The soft watercolors add a gentleness to such a big, hard emotion for a preschooler. The author also doesn't shy away from the difficulty of being away from a parent, as the child dwells on her hugless days and nights.

Dance with a polar bear, run with the caribou, and howl with the wolves as Siasi stalls throughout her bedtime routine. Kids will love playing along and adults will smirk at Siasi's control over bedtime.

Things that go: Construction

The night watchman makes his rounds in the quiet of the night and takes a moment to think of his boy and girl, safe and asleep at home. "Meooowww" purrs a gray tabby between the wheels of a truck. The gentle companionship between man and cat unfolds as we follow them around the worksite. When the kitten gives the night watchman a scare after she sneaks away for awhile, he decides to bring it home with him into the curious embrace of his children.

A gentle book full of calming blues and warm yellows that is perfect for bedtime reading. I absolutely adore that Sullivan's authorial debut is inspired by his own experience as a night watchman and the adoption story of his cat, Beebe.

With its contrasting emotions on each spread, Wohnoutka successfully shows that feelings aren't forever and our days can be full of ups and downs. What an essential thing for children to learn!
