The night watchman makes his rounds in the quiet of the night and takes a moment to think of his boy and girl, safe and asleep at home. "Meooowww" purrs a gray tabby between the wheels of a truck. The gentle companionship between man and cat unfolds as we follow them around the worksite. When the kitten gives the night watchman a scare after she sneaks away for awhile, he decides to bring it home with him into the curious embrace of his children.

A gentle book full of calming blues and warm yellows that is perfect for bedtime reading. I absolutely adore that Sullivan's authorial debut is inspired by his own experience as a night watchman and the adoption story of his cat, Beebe.
