Loved the clay artwork and the beginning was great but I just couldn't understand the competition. Were they supposed to create a sunday? Was it a relay? Because it was never explained, I was puzzled throughout, ruining the book. Maybe this got lost in the editing process which would be too bad.

Age: Preschool

A perfectly silly story told more through the pictures than the words. Our little narrator surmises how dinosaurs may have stuck around past their extinction by blending in really really well (or so he believes).

Age: Middle School-High School
History: Post WWII
State: Florida

On a family getaway to Florida, Evie has fallen in love with a handsome, charismatic veteran from the war. While in the fits of young love, a storm hits the island and a tragic event shatters Evie's childlike perspective of the world leading to a suspenseful trial that presents Evie with the question of if and how to lie. Blundell's representation of Evie as a sweet, naive, young teen feels authentic. I'd recommend this to middle school kids that like realistic fiction, romance, and suspenseful endings.

Age: Preschool-1st grade
Science: Evolution

An accessible introduction to evolution that will certainly invite further questions.

Age: Preschool-2nd grade

Yaccarino presents the evolving presence of stories throughout human civilization. A perfect picture book that invites discussion afterwards. Can be used to discuss human history, how we record it, and how we digest it.
