Age: Infant

Lush, flat, faded, and textured green is definitely everywhere in this sparsely worded book and the same green can be in one picture as it is in the next. Seeger's representation of green in our lives and the subtle peek-a-boo pages make me craving for the next color she spotlights.

Age: Infant

Big, bold pictures set atop blank space provide a visually appealing book for the younger audience. The rhymes are simple and the pictures match. The detailed action in the pictures can be observed closer and talked about between the reader and the listener providing an engaging read.

Age: Infant - Preschool & Beginning readers

Other than hands, what are the handiest things in the world? The big, bold, simple photographs are perfect for babies and the simple, rhyming text is great for beginning readers.

Age: Baby-3 years
Format: Board Book

A lovely guessing game that asks kids to match the tools to the professional that uses them.

Age: Infant+
Art: Collage, photography

A simple yet resounding poem for a caregiver to their child.

Age: Infant-Toddler

Various families are shown holding adorable babies and sharing magical moments together. Love the rhymes and the soft illustrations are great for a bedtime book.

Age: Infant-Preschool
Animal: Rhino

One impassive rhinoceros is fixed in the same place on each page while a variety of different activities and objects change around it. Each spread has two rhyming words such as chilly/frilly, caring/daring, and furry/blurry. The rhyming words are great for practicing the sounds of our language while the illustrations are perfectly paired. Tired/wired has an image of the Rhino in bed then holding a lollipop with a variety of candy scattered around him with his eyes popping out. A couple of the images are touch-and-feel.

Age: Baby - Toddler
Season: Summer

A small boy ventures across the sand into the water, describing what he sees and feels. Perfect for introducing little ones to a new experience. I gave an extra star for the unique and perfectly suitable artwork. Simple enough for little eyes, yet full of movement with a unique style for children's books.

Age: Toddler-Kindergarten

This little number spans a wide audience. With reinforced pages, toddlers can enjoy the book again and again, having fun with the peek-a-boo die-cut holes. Furthermore, the minimal text allows this to be a perfect read-aloud to a group of toddlers. Preschoolers and especially Kindergartners will appreciate the concept behind the book, encouraging children to reexamine their assumptions and opening them up to worlds of possibility, seeing the potential in "little" things.

Age: 1 year olds - preschool
Animals: Bunny

Hoppy the Bunny uses all 5 senses to identify that spring has arrived. Big illustrations with bright colors and ample white space accompanied with simple text make this a delightful read-aloud to a younger audience.
