I love when I read a story set up in a so familiar place as Brighton it is in this case. Yes, there have been many changes over the last almost 200 years but the sea and the whole feeling of how it was then, it’s still there.
I enjoyed reading the letters and the forbidden romance along with some of the secondary characters.
Same great dialogue and everything that you would expect from a historical romance book.
Looking forward to read more in the series.

It will take a few to write this full review but, honestly, I never thought I will love a story so much like this one. Very unexpected and full of heart and smiles and a bit of angst and lots of steam as well. Ticked all the boxes for sure

I loved her debut story Dewey belong together and couldn’t wait to read this one after seeing the cover.
Great writing as expected, amazing humor and heart throughout the story, great character development.
Norman has a lot of wounds to close (both visible and not so visible to the open eye) and Lois will change her life in a matter of weeks.
They collide when least expected and their banter and friendship made me want to be there with them at all times and high fives some scenes.
Again, the author has done an amazing job of showing how much some disabilities are misunderstood and that they don’t make anyone that lives with them any lesser.
Checking you out is a romance that just fills my heart with hope. Hope that no matter how you live your life, there's always someone out there to love and be loved.

I haven’t read the first book by the author so I was interested to see what this story was about since everyone seems to talk about it.
I always enjoyed a novel that tells the story behind the closed doors or behind the curtains because there’s so much to learn and see in a glamourous and extravagant lifestyle.
The first half of the story kept me engaging and really liked it. The second part though, it’s another dish altogether for me.
Too many characters and voices trying to tell their part of the story. Too many timelines to keep up with and so many secrets and twists that I did not know what’s actually happening in the end.
That’s why I have mixed feelings about the story overall. The ending is not really what I was expected but I’ll take it as it is.

I have read none of the previous books in the series, but I enjoyed this book with no problems regarding who the main characters are and what’s their part in the story is.
It probably shows why the author is so loved and how great her writing is.
DS Jack Warr is something that I haven’t expected from a detective. He is outspoken, goes beyond his duties and cross lines but also shows that he won’t give up on his instincts and believes if he wants to find the truth.
Believing that there’s much more to the story than the eye can meet, he starts an investigation that will bring a lot of his past secrets to surface.
I found myself intrigued by the story and some twists were very unexpected. The author has done an amazing job of intertwining elements that maybe in other situations wouldn’t work at all, but here they are perfectly mixed throughout the novel. I mean, drug cartels with an old lady story? Cleverly done.
This installment surely opened my appetite for more in the series so I’m looking forward to read more soon.

A crossed path at the party makes them both take a lifetime decision that will change their dreams and career forever.
Emily was funny, calm, sweet and while she wasn't considered the best match among the other debutantes, I really liked her wit and willingness to be more and to do more with her life. Their marriage of convenience becomes much more along the way and their banter and interactions are so well done for a great story. It really shows the connection and chemistry they hold for each other. I loved how Emily tried to make him see that what society thinks it's proper for a lady to do, it's not always what one’s wishes in reality. The acting stage and theatre were a fresh addition to the usual regency historical romance story. It’s usually a place where the heroes are showing their raker face. A few meddling moments from a naughty pet added more humour to the scene and made me laugh out loud because that was unexpected.
While I didn't enjoy the first book that much, I loved this one and it can easily be read as a stand-alone.
If you love historical romance, this one is for you.

It was so interesting to read about the 50s and 60s when the women weren't seen as more than a housemaid and children baring, unfortunately. Among those, there were a few that made a huge difference and here comes our heroine, chemist Elizabeth Zott. She's witty, straightforward, and so intelligent. She wants much more from her life and after becoming a widow, her life changed completely. As a new mother and unemployed, she's invited to host a show where she will teach lessons in chemistry mixed with the daily menu.
At many points throughout the book, I had the feeling that she's more on the spectrum and I really loved how she acted when confronted with different situations as when she had the baby and how she had to step up and let her neighbour to help her when she needed. I'm not a big fan of children or pets in my readings, but here they were both amazing and their addition brings more nuances to Elizabeth’s ARC.
This is a story that many people will enjoy.
