Blockbusters were such a great thing in the 90s. And I remember how I was thinking about all those employees having to work night shifts and maybe spending all their time watching all those great movies for free.

The book starts with a tragic occurrence, and it slowly introduces many main characters and their lives .

Told in multiple pov, the survivor Ella, the public defender Chris and the detective Keller. Going back and forth between then, 15 years ago when a similar crime had happened, and now, when they have to find a copy-crime or even the same criminal.

The second part of the story is a non-stop adrenaline rush and I couldn’t stop reading till the last page.

A must read an addictive book.

I’ve read all of Lucy Foley’s books and this one was highly recommended and expected on bookstagram.

I enjoyed the multiple pov of such a various and interesting characters mix, each one more eclectic than the others and with so many secrets and stories to tell.

It was at a slower pace and I can't say that I actually enjoyed that, because I usually prefer a fast-pace thriller, but I also can understand why this one had to be like that. Often, we need a better development for a story and I’m assuming that's the case in here.

Many suspenseful moments and one after the other, these pieces of the puzzle came together in the second half of the book.

I’ve never been to Paris, just transitioning from one airplane to another, and I would've liked to read a bit more about it, to be honest. I just imagined it like an old building with a small staircase and even smaller apartments where you can always hear what your next-door neighbours are up to every second of the day. And somehow, that's what I thought it actually happened with the murder. Who did it and who heard it in the end? You are going to have to read it for yourself.

So much to take in here. I enjoyed the narrative voice and the suspenseful story overall.
I must say though that I’ve got so lost in all the multiple pov and timelines because you can’t really understand why we get them until the end even if we already know that they were connected years ago.
There’s a lot of suspense and maybe some unbelievable moments or twists but they are all building up to a good thriller and a great start of a new series.
While this one wasn’t so wow for me, I’m looking forward to read the next books in the series because I really enjoyed the main character and I want to see where the author is taking him next, Ben Harper has such a complex personality and finding more of his background is something to look up in the future.

Good cop, bad cop is a pulse racing thriller that kept me up a few good hours last night.

The transitions between past and present were so smoothly done that I got so entrained and loved this book so much. I wanted to know the truth as well and more so after each chapter shows a new layer of lies and mischief, hidden secrets that come out when some people thought they were really deep buried and I couldn’t stop reading honestly.

I can’t say I got close to any of the characters but I did cheered up on both Cleverly and Sketty to show up and tell the truth of what happened 14 years ago and if there’s any relation with the present investigation.

Once again, the author has showed why his books are so great and high praised because this one is definitely a must read.

Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane are back in the game with a even more mysterious case to solve. And not just one crime, but a bigger picture will be discovered step by step while they are trying to solve it.
I can only say that I was very shocked to find out who the villain was because the whole story has taken me to so many places and tried my theories to extreme and I was still wrong all the way through! And believe it or not, 99% of the cases I am right! So this story hit the jackpot and made me feel al the pulse racing and spikes of adrenaline while reading it.
Nothing quite new there as I loved the previous books in the series but this one might be my favourite so far.

I’m not sure how I feel about this story to be honest. I liked the suspenseful moments and I wanted to know how this will end because I was interested in seeing if the “villain “ will be caught and how much this family has to go through before that. Also to see if Karen will decide to trust her husband and stay with him.
Overall is an addictive story that kept me intrigued throughout the chapters.

I have no words to describe how this book made me feel.

I don’t know what or how she does it, but every single time I pick up a Jewel E Ann book, I’m instantly drawn into a world that speaks to me more than anyone else can.

Her way of creating and saying these stories is way beyond my imagination and I’m always blown away by how raw and reliable these are. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever read a book in my life where the author can place you right in the middle of the action every second. It might be my ability to see everything that I read just like a movie, but I don't know, I’m speechless.

Sophie and Shep are perfect. Their arc character, their interactions, their daily struggles with the past and even their inner monologue were so interesting to see developing on the page. There were moments when I wanted to give them a hug and so other moments when I just burst out laughing because I couldn’t get past those quirky remarks.

And then comes the chemistry and love, that sparkle that will catch fire in no time and keep going throughout the book.

“Friends don’t hold grudges. Friends know they’re not competing with anyone else for your love and trust. Friends don’t get jealous. That’s what lovers do. You said we were friends.”

I really enjoyed the suspenseful moments and the retired characters. A few twists and my theories were quite wrong , maybe because I was going into a different direction from what the story actually went in the second half of the book.

I have read and enjoyed previous books by the author and some in the same series, so when I found out a new book comes out; I knew I’ll be in for a treat with these wonderfully crafted characters.

It’s more scary and suspenseful. The twist won’t stop coming after each chapter and it felt like my pulse was skyrocketing because all those “before” chapters just made me feel goosebumps and I was waiting for a bigger shoe to drop. And it did. Big time. Just as I was expecting from the author.

So yes, if you’re looking for a pulse racing story with interesting characters and some crimes and detective procedures that will keep you glued to your chair, read this book!
