I loved thos so much more than I expected! The way so many storylines wove together within the beautiful prose, and the multigenerational story centered a location insead of a family was just brilliantly executed.
Mortons writing is evocative, filled with beautiful imagery, without unnecessary, over the top descriptions.

I can not for the life of me figure out what it was about this book that didn't grab me like it seems to have grabbed everyone else :(

I think this will forever be my favourite wayward children book - the exploration of assigned roles, gendering and stigmas that can be forced on children is just so beautifully done. Then to add in such a well done exploration of familiar (or lack there of) bonds, it just achives so much in such a short, beautifully written novella!
