I’m speechless. This book is gritty, real and raw. Mailhot has exposed her soul in this memoir. And it’s beautiful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder is one of my favourite novels, so when I saw The World According to Anna on the store shelf I just couldn’t resist.

This book is about a young teen named Anna, who is overly troubled by climate change. It’s pretty much an obsession for her, and she spends most of her time struggling to find a solution to save the animals from extinction. Throw in a bit of time travel and it’s a fascinating read.

It’s actually a pretty simple story, but the ideas Anna and her boyfriend come up with are quite clever. I think that’s where Gaarder’s talent lies - not just in telling a story, but making you think. His ideas bend my brain a bit - I love that. The book is translated from its original Norwegian, and I think some of the spark is lost in the translation, but it’s still really enjoyable.
