The guest art isn't as distracting as the last issue; it's aesthetically a style I enjoy but still sad meeting Tara in it.
She deserved more.
Also, fucking Ananke.

This is everything I could have hoped for in this issue! It was fantastic, funny, and just enough groan worthy puns to keep the pages a turnin'!
It made me forget for half a moment that the end is nigh...

Oh yeah, this is definitely right up my alley. One issue is obviously not enough to really get into the meat of a tale, but this did a really good job of setting up a pretty interesting concept.
I'm very much interested in continuing through this arc, and this series is officially going onto my pulls list.

Ooo, Issue 2's a good one! I was hoping for a bit more, but all in all I'm liking this so far.
I want more of the history, and I'm hoping Issue 3 will have it.
Maude's going to be a fun POV, and I'm definitely digging the dynamics of the family components here. Again, hoping to see it flesh out more in the future.

I wish I had a way to review this book that is not completely biased and just filled with my gushing about it for sentences and paragraphs and chapters. But I can't.
Like other reviews who don't give a synopsis and recommend you read this with as little information as possible, I'm saying the same thing. It's a highly character driven story that's beautiful with a pretty slow building plot. But stick with it, and it will come together by the end!
Lazlo is easily one of my favorite characters because of how truly goodhearted he is. He's a scholar and a reader and a quiet natured man with big fantastical dreams. Literally, he's quite the dreamer.
Get it?
I do feel like Lazlo and the setting kind of outshine some of the other characters, but that's OK in my book. I like when the title character is the lead in the story. However, just because he outshines most others, that doesn't mean the other characters aren't developed. Their interactions and struggles and conversations are some of the best parts of this book.
Overall, I loved it, and I can't wait to continue on with Muse of Nightmares!

I can't really share much of what happens because that would be a review filled with spoilers. It was a fantastic continuation of volume 2, and I cannot wait to see where this story goes. Because, honestly, I can't even guess. I've got no idea what Liu has in store for Maika or this world or the monsters that are in it.
I just don't know, but I'm going to love finding out.

Still 5 stars for the creepy factor and the provocations each story gave with so few words. These stories are told flawlessly through the art, and it's horrifyingly beautiful to witness. And disturbing. Super disturbing. I recommend it so much for everyone! It's such a perfectly chilling winter read, so now is the time to check it out if you haven't already.
Seriously, quit reading this and go read it instead!

5 Stars because I got goosebumps during and at the end of every story in this fantastic collection of disturbing new fairytales (?).
Creepy but so well written.

I started the year off with an incredibly funny novel, and I'm ending the year with one too! I fucking loved this book. His dad reminds me a bit like my dad - though less curse-y - but with similar wisdoms to impart on his children.
Whether they want it or not!
This book had me laughing on every page and sometimes at every paragraph. It was witty and cute and just so fucking good!
