It's been years, but this is just as fantastic as I remembered.  The writing, the characters, the angst! Oh how I love being back in this world.  Definitely going to continue my re-read of the series.

Oh, I liked this a lot.  Of the Rewind or Die's I've read, this one isn't as gory, and maybe not even viewed as horrifying (in the beginning)...but that ending! If it wasn't for some convenient monologuing, I think this could've been 5 stars.  It had a lot of things I loved - an unlikeable character, cryptids, and vengeance.

I was thoroughly enjoying this story until about the last third, and then it went downhill.  A slur for who the characters believe is an Indigenous person on the island is repeated over and over to the point that it pulled me out of the story entirely.  Had this just been the creature feature horror that it started out as, I'd have given it an easy 4 stars.

The writing is good. It was a gory, twisted good time for a long while.

What a ride!  There's four stories in this, and they each get more disturbing and unnerving as the book goes on.  I loved this premise with this tow truck driver just telling this couple horrific stories back to back.  And then that ending!  Oh boy, chef's kiss, perfection!

DID NOT FINISH

I don't think I'm in the right mindset for this.  It starts out with a ton of world building and information and my mind is having a hard time making sense of it all.

I'll admit that the cover is the reason I picked this up. But I'm so glad I did.  This eldritch horror noir just hit quite a few of my favorite elements in books.  I liked the unlikeable characters, the writing was poetic but not too flowery, there was body horror, and it's a novella!  I don't continue a ton of series, but I'll definitely be checking out the next book!

What an excellent novella!  It was descriptive and captivating, and I really liked the characters and the journeys they take here.  The eldritch horrors were brilliantly done. Only reason I'm not giving this a full 5 stars is I felt the pacing was a bit off. There were moments that went on a little too long and caused some dull moments in the last third of the book.

What the hell did I just read?  This novella is filled with body horror, bizarre communications, sadomasochism, and some really gross moments.  I liked the epistolary format but felt that the 2 POVs were too often similar, and I kept getting the characters confused with one another.

What a fun freaking book! This slasher is partially set in the 80s and 2019, has some really interesting characters, and a twist that I really didn't expect.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and will definitely be checking out more from this author.

This was my first Becky Chambers but it definitely won't be my last! I absolutely adored the characters, the world, the writing.  It was all so fantastically done.  I think what Chambers created is definitely going to become such a special series.
