I get little life nuggets when I read novels by Katherine Center. This one was warm and fuzzy and showed the importance of finding joy and light even in some of life’s darkest scenarios. It can be as simple as wearing bright colors and funny hats to spread cheer and as difficult as smiling through the pain of grief and PTSD. 

Meh. The writing style of this author just doesn’t seem to work for me.  The story didn’t seem to flow. But of course, different strokes for different folks. 

This was a quick read and a fun, adventurous, love story. I wish there had been more at the end, I couldn’t believe it was over so soon!

I. Loved. This. Book! Total romcom, and just what I needed after a rough week at work. I smiled. My heart smiled. I didn’t wanna put it down. 

I wanted more from this book, and was a little disappointed. I was hoping there’d be more FRIENDS commentary, and there probably could’ve been room for that if he hadn’t repeated things from his past several times. Not my favorite memoir, unfortunately. 

I love when I can’t figure out “who done it”, and this was one of those books where I kept jumping from character to character until the big reveal. I loved the maid’s personality and I loved the story. A feel good mystery. ‘Twas a good one.

A fun, lighthearted read with adorable characters. It lost a star for excessive use of unnecessary foul language… like sometimes it didn’t even make sense or fit seamlessly into the sentences. The characters and plot line were great and it was just the easy read I needed after some depressing books recently. 

I thought this was beautifully written. As a mother, my heart goes out to the author (and obviously all of the other victims and their loved ones affected by the Columbine shooting).  Sue Klebold enlightens the reader with a completely different point of view than most people and I think she did so with immense grace. This is definitely not a light read due to content. I highly recommend reading Columbine by Dave Cullen prior to reading this memoir; but you’ll want to follow that combo up with something a little more lighthearted if at all possible. 

Wow. There was SO MUCH I didn’t know about Eric and Dylan. There was so much I didn’t know about the shooting and plans for that day and all the warning signs leading up to it. I’m still processing, but in summary, this was a very detailed and graphic retelling of the tragedy that was Columbine. 

This was a quick read that deals with love, loss, grief, and finding family amongst unfamiliar circumstances.  I enjoyed, but it’s probably not one of TJR’s that will stick with me.
