I’m a sucker for a book with a medical storyline 🤷🏻‍♀️ add romance?  Boom! Stars!   

I still think the first book in the series is the best…. So far. 

I didn’t love this one as much as the first Bromance book in the series. There seemed to be a lot more characters and not enough time to connect with all of them. However, I will read the third book now and hope that it’s as fantastic as the first; and if it’s not, oh well, it’s still a great series! 

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! 

Very entertaining and relatable. I laughed out loud, many times! The bro chat in this book made me laugh as did several other scenes.  It had steamy parts, which is expected in a story about a husband and wife trying to find each other again. If you’ve been married, have kids, and have felt disconnected  with your spouse in anyway throughout your relationship (let’s face it, who hasn’t?!), then I 100% recommend this book. 


Now excuse me while I binge the rest of this series! 

As a reader, I found this memoir to be insightful - learning more about Asian cultures. As a nurse, I dived right into the medical aspect of the writer’s mother and her battle with pancreatic cancer. It was obviously sad to read, but I appreciated hearing different aspects of how families go through the hardest of times with their loved ones. 

I’m not real big on horses, but this was still an interesting book. The theme of racism was well done and I liked how the story weaved back and forth from past to present time. It wasn’t SO good that I would recommend it, but not so bad that I would tell someone NOT to read it if they were interested in it, if that makes sense. 

The Soulmate was a slow burn for me, which I enjoy. I like how it involved genetics, relationships, and mental illness into the mystery. 

To quote one of the students in Sister Act II: “I mean, it was cool for what it was, but it wasn’t all that!” 

Ok, so I didn’t really know what to expect going into this book. I’d read mixed reviews and wasn’t sure if I should give it a go. I’m so glad I did! 

2023 has been the year of the audiobook for me. Books have given me something to look forward to every day and allows me to escape to another world, which is what I have needed this year. All that to say, I have become extremely familiar and enthralled in the world of audiobooks and Julia Whelan is one of my favorite narrators! Her book takes a rom-com, behind the scenes, look at the life of narrators and it had me LOLing at times. More smut that I was expecting, but it worked in the context and added to the laughs. 

If you enjoy audiobooks, you should totally give this one a listen! 

Alrighty, Iron Flame was good, but not as good as Fourth Wing. Also, RY upped the spice level for Iron Flame, so there’s that. Not gonna lie, I’m envious of those that read Fourth Wing and were then able to dive right into Iron Flame. I’d imagine their reviews are far better/different than mine. All in all, a good fantasy/adventure book. And I still highly recommend the audio version. 

This book was heartbreakingly sad and a little depressing. I did find myself wanting to read more tho; I wanted to learn more about what happened to Maggie.  I say, read this book if you love a slow burn and feel like having a good therapeutic cry.
