I appreciated that there was a lot of background information to set the story up nicely.  However, I was anticipating/hoping the story would be more about “the nurse” but it was more about her life outside of the hospital; I found that to be a little disappointing. 

Kristin Hannah can do no wrong!  I really struggle with the WWII era, especially reading about how awful everything was during those incredibly dark times.  However, KH was able to work her magic and create a beautiful novel, set in France during the war, and I finished the book thinking how amazing the women were! Kristin Hannah writes so beautifully and with such detail that you feel as though you are right there, in the scene, with the characters! 

My favorite quote from the book: “Every barrier she made into a gate.”

I just wanted to bottle this man up and spread him like confetti to all the women that have never felt truly loved and wanted! Wow, the main character really knows how to make a woman feel all the things. Spice level gets pretty high, but it’s so heartwarming! 

I feel like I missed the connection between the main characters at the beginning of the book somehow. Their connection just didn’t feel real enough to me. However, as their characters developed throughout the story, it got better and felt more realistic. As a stargazer, I loved the way the sky was tied into the story. 

So. Boring. I forced myself to finish this book because I was reading it with my friend and wanted to discuss, plus “everyone is reading it!”  Otherwise, it would’ve been a DNF.  I didn’t love The Dutch House either, so maybe Ann Patchett just isn’t for me.  

Loved it! Such a cool quick read. I couldn’t help but compare Nora to T.Swift and again, I loved it! If you’re a hopeless romantic and enjoy reading about badass women, def give this gem a read!
