This middle school bordering young adult book touched on important topics that kids may encounter in their youth such as loss death grief crushes sexuality questions peer pressure imagination fear etc. I remember what it was like feeling those things. This was well written and i wish had a 5 years in the future jump or another book. 

I really loved how this book connected to the first standalone but I wish there was an update to the lesbian mother & aunt relationship 

I am so glad to have the uk versions of the Jesse standalone and I just acquired Dial a for aunties. Three book by this amazing author I hope to catch her on tour. As this is my first read I laughed at how real the horniness and cultural boundariless the families were.the romance was just enough to give me the feels. But I mostly fell in love with Jakarta and Bali. Def adding to my travel to do list. Gotte find some indonesian food!

Dear Tanya, thank you for bringing me to tears with in the shallows. I feel destroyed and fulfilled all at once. I cannot get over this book and I never will. I relate so much to mara & nico in a way. I have a michelle of sorts or a combination of all their friends. I know parents like mara and nicos. I am so grateful to pick up this book bc its bipoc & sapphic. I'm gonna cry myself to sleep now

It took me longer than usual to get through the book in the middle I was unsure what exactly I was reading but it got good and ended well. I was able to visually see scenes and I dont know if this is a stand alone but it could be read as one 

I wanted to support lily but hoped it would be good and it did not disappoint. I love the black Wiccan and ancestor rep. I enjoyed characters who are so imperfect you almost wish for a unhappy ending ive never felt that way reading a book. I can't wait to interview lily June 6, 2025 on Instagram live and discuss her scooby doo lesbian novel coming out this year. 🩷🤍🧡

Found it incredibly uninteresting for me and not really getting to a point where my face was not frowning

Im not a historical fan but I truly enjoyed reading this fictional real events book. I learned a lot about someone the American public education system has failed to tell us. I've never heard her mentioned in black history month. But im glad I know her now. 

I really enjoyed this story and glad it picked up in plot and pace when it did. I felt like it could have been shorter in the end. Its a dark emotional sad book with a happy ending.

The audio voice saying these words was just so annoying the storyline I'm like get to the point. The parts that were suppose to be sexy or serious i laughed like wtf am i listening to/reading? I paused to see if i would come back and I am just like yes its bipoc but so not for me. This feels like straight porn.
