I loved this so much. 11 pages in and I fell in love with Ox. It only got better from there. So good.

This was nice. Some follow up on how every one in the night court is doing after the end of the last book. It just kind of meanders from character to character with no real plot, as they get ready for the winter solstice. There's no stakes in this one. We get to see them go about their daily lives, recovering and helping (or trying to help) others recover. I liked it. Definitely something for the fans of this series, especially those of us who love the inner circles various relationships. That found family gathering for the holiday. 

This was entertaining. More so than Lovecraft's Horror of Red Hook of which this is a retelling.

I cried. A beautiful ending to a beautiful series.

Well if this is the most bigoted, racist, xenophobic, if should get better from here on out. I think Howard had the fever dream rather than his character Morgan. Of course the bad guy turns out to be the rich, white man though somehow he is written somewhat sympathetically. This is my first real horror, I think. Not a real fan let alone expert on horror but dipping my toe in. Read this to beef up my January reads and so I'd better understand Victor Lavelle's retelling of this which I plan to read in February. The most horrifying thing about this is the author.

3.5 stars. So much more Geralt than I've read in a while. This was a nice end. 

This accomplished what it set out to. Its obvious this is from an American's point of view since royalty doesn't really work like this. And then it skims over the politics of being royalty. I do wish there was more detail to the world. There's just random angry and mean people we meet once and never again. I don't really understand how the wedding happened in the end. But as a quick fun and sexy royalty romance, this was good. You can feel the chemistry. Despite everything and the quick pace this doesn't feel like instalove. Its sexy and sometimes sweet. And the characters emotions were felt strongly, good and bad. I am looking forward to the next one.

I liked this. I did not hate it. I know even the hint of an age gap romance with an underage character really upset a lot of people. Reading the comments on the next book I see KMM changed her plan for a Dani trilogy because of the backlash. I decided to read this and give her the benefit of the doubt. I had read Shadowfever as soon as it came out and had assumed it was the last book. I learned 2 years it ago that it wasn't. Dani was not my fave character. Mostly because of how she talks, I feel like I need a translator, but also because early teen girls enfuriate me. Even when I was in my early teens they did. It's a me problem. 

Reading this early on it becomes clear that there are 3 guys sexually/romantically interested in 14 year old Dani. But Dani is oblivious. Mostly because of her upbringing. Sheltered through abuse. But she's also somewha willfully blind. The content warning comes in the fact that 2 of those guys are waaay older. One is something supernatural that has been around for no one knows how long. The other is a grown man in either his 20s or 30s. And several times they strongly hint or outright say they are interested in her sexually/romantically. But that didn't bother me. Yes, they should know better but this is not one of the fantastical elements in the story.

So with that out of the way, Dani's dialogue bothered me a lot. I took an almost 2 year break from this because I couldn't see where it was going plot wise. And then just never picked it up again until now. Dani jut seemed to go in circles which was frustrating. And honestly so did many of the other characters. ITs realistic but not always a compelling read. The world and the action were great as always. I do like the relationship dynamics between everyone. I see that these guys are basically trying to groom her at varying levels of intensity. But I do want to see how Dani grows up and deals with it all. 

The big bad and the reveal for what is attracting it surprised me. The ending felt a bit like a cop out. There should have been more loss in my opinion.

I don't think Christian is dead and gone forever.

So I don't hate this but I didn't love it either. And I am ready and willing to read the next one.
