That ending

 I wasn't sure what genre of type of manage this was going in. I am intrigued thanks to the ending. The first chapter or two I was feeling bored by but Lykos made it more interesting. The author explanation of what sparked the story idea was also interesting. Definitely going to continue.

I'm not sure of this rating as I've just finished the book. I struggled reading this but I feel that was me more than the book. There are holes in the background of the story and I have questions. But they don't take away from the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this when I did pick it up. I almost wish this wasn't a stand alone because I'd love more story in this world of demons, sentient books and magic. But knowing how rare and difficult it is to create a unique fantasy and keep it to one novel, and under 500 pages, I am well satisfied.

I liked this better than the first one though the rep is questionable. This was a good fun summer beach/poolside read. Which is were I read it during my vacation this week. Dani and Sorcha's witchcraft/paganism practices are suspect. And I say that as a practicing witch with more than a passing knowledge of ADT's. Coupled with the fact that Zaf is a non-practicing muslim and I've seen a few muslim's disappointed with this, this is looking like spiritual rep just for reps sake. But I'm not feeling too mad about it. I'm feeling out my feelings as I type this plus it's after 1am. 

Anyway, beyond that I like the story. It dragged just a bit. So much inner monologuing from both of them. The chemistry is there from the beginning and I love both of their friends and families interference. And of course the individual characters of Dani and Zaf are fully developed and likeable. Overall I enjoyed this and will someday read the last one.

That was nice. I enjoyed it more than expected. I wasn't too interested in a story focused on Titus and the Hummingbird. If the next book in the series wasn't announced I would have left this to read much later. But this was fun. I appreciate the emphasis that though the war is over, the aftermath is still being dealt with. 

Titus wasn't as annoying as I thought he'd be. He's just a but much but Nemot a bad guy. The Hummingbird, lol. On her own she was okay. We got some more of her back story which fleshed out some things for several others back stories.  But it was what she brought out in Titus that made this book entertaining. Frustration 😆. "Does he know what you're like when you're you and not the Hummingbird?" That sums it up well.

All that being said, not much happens in this book. It feels like filler. Even the relationship is slow burn by necessity. So don't expect much to happen until the end. Even so, it felt kinda quick. I see them as compatible but not in love as they say they are.
