This was on of my 12 book challenge recs. The premise sounded interesting and I'm glad I read it. Not gonna lie about halfway through and then again 75% I thought this was turning toward horror vibes and put it down for a could of days. This has what could be considered a happy ending. 

Following the story from Klara's perspective was very interesting. As some pro reviews say, it was an innocent perspective. She always wanted to do her best and always saw the best in the humans around her. It was interesting to see them sometimes treat her like an object and other times like a living being. The Mother especially because depending on her mood she was flip flopping all over the place. Klara's relationship with the Sun was cute and heartwarming. 

But then again her perspective could be baffling. Like when she described what she was seeing. Boxes everywhere sometimes. I could not always decipher what she was really seeing. I still don't know what the codex machine was supposed to be. I may be misspelling that because I listened to the audiobook. Overall it was an enjoyable read, outside my usual type. I think this would count as soft sci-fi, which I think I can enjoy from time to time. Gets you thinking without scientific details and also has a strong emotional element to the storytelling. I definitely teared up towards the end when Josie was rearranging the storage closet. 

That was interesting and not quite was I was expecting. I am intrigued enough to continue but not in a rush to do so even with the cliffhanger. The setting being mostly in modern day England was a surprise. I do like the artwork. The age gap is huge but this is a fantasy. There's no romance or anything like that..... yet. I suspect it will come and I'll see how I feel about the age gap then. Right now he treats her like a daughter. A decent start overall.

Mind you haven't picked this up in over 6 months. It's too convoluted. The romance took a back step for no reason but to add drama. The first book was a lot but interesting enough plot-wise I wanted to see where this was going. This started off interesting then that died out for me. Add to the fact all these supernatural beings in one world is still not explained. It's too frustrating for me to want to pick up again. Maybe someday but it's been months so I'm officially defying this.

I just do not care about these people. The recent parts about this man being a patron are just disgusting. 

I was not expecting to love this. Almost from the first page I was hooked. This story is super compelling, the characters relatable and the art on point. I flew through this in a day. Which may not sound like much for a Manga but I did do a full day of work as well. This was during meal times only. I just need to know how this turns out. Best recommendation in a long time. 

I don't know if I liked this. Two volumes in this edition and I still don't see the point of this story. It's not very compelling. The premise of this girl accidentally meeting the 12 zodiac is interesting but we haven't gotten to why. The plot line about her living situation got solved fairly quickly. If I continue this it will be only to to figure out what Akita's deal is.  23 volumes for what? 

That was meh. I'm only slightly interested in continuing. There's not enough to make the characters emotions believable. There's no chemistry even though dude keeps getting all up in her face. The art is beautiful though. And I am curious as to why the brother was killed. But I feel like the reason is going to be hallow. 

I have never read anything like this before. I did not enjoy this though I think it was well written and  great storytelling. It just cements why I don't read horror or this type of suspence or thriller usually. This felt hopeless 95% of the book. I'm glad I listened to the audiobook because I would have dnf'd this physically. I liked everyone of the characters and found them each relatable in some way. But also didn't like them at the same time. I definitely learned a lot and it had me questioning some of my values. Which was an extra uncomfy layer. Doesn't help I read this while preparing stuff for the holidays. Not a lot of joy and cheer to be found here. I like the ending but it also felt anticlimactic. It was drawn out too much too me.
