It's a solid modern horror story. 

but why did the Black family have to die, why didnt the white girl die and got to be the tragic heroine?

Really a mixed bag for me. Initially, I was sucked in by the lively and energetic writing about books and reading but very soon the stream of consciousness-like narrative got tiring because there was so much rambling and branching out into sub sub sub stories and jumping back and forth. There was a part in the middle the caught me again and I read about 100 pages in one go but after that I really just wanted it to end. The last 2 chapters were just confusing and I didnt remember who Dale or any other character were. But once in a couple of pages there's a profound paragraph in it. So yeah, like I said, mixed bag. 

This hit me very close to home and gave me a lot of feelings that I'm struggling to handle. 

Funny and absurd as usual with Mahler. Would have liked to see more about Kurosawa than just one chapter though. 

Wow... that was intense. And depressing. And powerful. And meaningful. And important. All of that and more. All told in Beaton's unique tone and visual style. A must-read!

The best shonen like I've read in years. Not only are the characters diverse and interesting, the world and the story are exciting, mysterious and there's a ton of action.
