I’ll confess that last twist kinda fell flat but otherwise—HOLY FUCK??? WHAT?? HUH?????????? this is the most engrossed I’ve been in a book for a WHILE and the fact I’m up at 3am feverishly writing this review should tell you plenty.

anyways smackie’s bisexual pass it on.

I just wanna live and die in this book

Screaming. Crying. Laying down and sobbing. This is like a goddamn Disney movie in book form.

I’ll be real—I think Pet was a hell of a lot stronger than this one. I guess trying to explain the whole Angels/Gates things and how Lucille came to change is what got me—it just kinda lessened the magic of it tbh

Still a lovely book. Just not my favourite in the series.

Love an obviously autistic MC, hate when it’s never actually states. Go big or go home, cowards!!!

Anyways this was fun but the ending was meh but it was still fun I guess

Powerful and vivid and tragic, it’s a story of grief so really that’s what to expect. A little disorienting for me with the switching tenses/timelines, but worth checking out nonetheless.

this is by no means a perfect book. it’s a hodgepodge of stories, often damn near impossible to follow, the pacing drove me insane, and I am absolutely not confident in my ability to understand it.

but also I’m madly in love. I haven’t felt this kind of glorious whimsy in years. so thank you for that, starless sea.

doesn’t feel like a novel so much as it does a myth, or a collection of myths, or a whole text of folkloric fever dreams.

and again I’m so very okay with it because it was so fucking beautiful ;u;
