I actually don't really know if I liked this book or not? I liked the writing and the pacing but the storyline itself? I dunno.
Cole was an iffy MC for me, since he is truly not a good, or even morally grey, guy and Mara was.... unfinished? That's not exactly how I wanted to word that but it's what comes to mind when I think of her. She has obviously experienced trauma and is strong willed but to almost completely get over being kidnapped, tortured, and almost murdered? Hmm, she is definitely more brave than I am. Brave or reckless.

This was beautiful. As someone with a 2 STEM degrees, working in a STEM field, I love reading about characters who love science too.
Bee was a character! I loved her personality and how she interacted with the world. I loved how she had such intense reactions and emotions and I adored every minute of her and Levi’s banter and relationship building.

This was beautiful. As someone with a 2 STEM degrees, working in a STEM field, I love reading about characters who love science too.

This was a little bit of a let down. There was a lot of explaining and description instead of action and doing. The book did pick up in the second half, and it was hard to put down since I just wanted to know what was going to happen next.

The perfect way to describe my feelings for this book would be: boredom.
I was bored.
This was such a disappointment considering I really really enjoyed The Spanish Love Deception. Rosie and Lucas (especially Lucas) feel flat and one dimensional for me, I didn't feel their chemistry. At all. Like, why were they together?

What a great read! I really liked Luella and her love of herbology and healing (same, girl). I wish we could have got to know Eldas more, I thought his character had more to offer than was shown. Same for his brother, Harrow.
