This was fine. Not terrible, not great. Nothing in particular stood out to me one way or another. I probably won't continue the series.

The story starts from the POV of a six year old girl and the voice is naturally immature and childish. The problem is when it jumps down the timeline and is now a 26 year old woman, she still sounds just as immature and childish. She calls him a "meanie" even and it was just...weird.

This does a good job explaining what cancel culture is and is not. The term has become kind of convoluted and this clears it up nicely.
slow-paced
Bootstrapper self-help that reads like a get rich quick scheme infomercial that never gets to the point.

I liked this even better than the first one. Officially obsessed with this series. Action, adventure, romance, solid writing, strong themes, gorgeous symbolism....what more could one want? I need the next book in the series IMMEDIATELY.

This story really brings to light how none of us are immune to homelessness. In America, a person can do everything "right" and still end up homeless. At the same time, the book offers some hope by sharing an alternative lifestyle that is working well for a group of people. It's a great piece of investigative journalism. One of the best books I've read all year.

Let me start with what I liked: the banter between Sloane and Declan was really entertaining. I liked Sloane as a character. I like how the mafia plot came together at the end and the cameos from Kage and Natalie. That being said, I don't really ship Declan and Sloane. I don't understand what she sees in him and I think he character was underdeveloped.

This was not great for me. I'm kind of steeped in reading materials on the topic of resistance and decolonization and this summarized some good sources but didn't add anything new to the conversation. The self-helpy parts were done better by other writers (Ijeoma Oluo comes to mind immediately). When a work like this cites Merriam Webster dictionary to define a complex idea, I'm out. It feels like an undergraduate essay at that point. My advice would be to look at this book's references list and read those books instead.

This was so unorganized and the pacing was way off. Some lines did make me laugh and the characters were fun.

another cute and whimsical installment in the series. I appreciate that this had a unique mystery and an exciting twist at the end.
