I slept on this book. I thought it was going to be something completely different based on TikTok reviews. I went in thinking little plot, super heavy on the XXX smut.
That👏🏻did👏🏻not👏🏻happen! And I’m not mad! It was a cute story with a golden retriever MMC and a type-A neurotic FMC. I really really enjoyed the cuteness. The narrators did a great job.
I would *almost* call this slow burn, other than the
need for Josh to give her an orgasm via oral
in the first part of the book, there was quite a build up. I really just loved this book. I want a Josh. ❤️

I have to remind myself that these books are young adult so I can't think of these TEENAGERS as adults.

I want to say I HATE Castle.  I have absolutely zero love for him.  I respect his dedication/love for Kenji.  But his constant anger with Juliette is almost enough to have me DNF the whole entire thing.  THEY ARE CHILDREN. THEY ARE CHILDREN WITH *TRAUMA* Their "public" outbursts are going to happen.  I don't consider hallways as public, especially as they'd leave a room they were in to have said *private* discussions.  These CHILDREN were never allowed privacy except in their own rooms that they weren't allowed to have members of the opposite sex.
Everyone except Adam and Warner act like she hasn't had seventeen years of chronic mental/emotional abuse and trauma and that she should just snap out of it in the ten seconds they've given her.  I hope that the adolescents that are reading these books don't think that this is *normal* and that when they are processing trauma, that they are expected to act normally at.all.times.

Ok, now that we've moved past that.  I adore these books. I'm trying to forgive Juliette for the love triangle, but being seventeen is hard. I would have a hard time denying two very attractive boys who were heavily interested in me too. I love how understanding Warner has become, getting to know her mind through the journal.  How quickly he figured out his power and how to make it work with Juliette.  My heart absolutely ACHES for Adam. ACHES. I can't wait to devour the next book to see where everything is leading.

I didn’t find this book as charming as The Friend Zone, but I still adore it. I believe the theme of a bereaving woman brought the “funny” down, but it was still a beautiful book. Abby’s writing always draws me in. The events are always ridiculous, but the reactions are real life. You can feel the emotions because they are relatable.

I absolutely adore the prose. The narrator has done a phenomenal job and I love the scratches. I was bummed at how slow this book moved, but I‘m assuming it’s building up and setting up for the rest of the series. I’ve seen a few spoilers on IG but I’m so excited to see how the story twists and turns. I don’t understand why there isn’t more hype on Adam! If this was out when I was 17 I’d be saying “Edward Cullen who? Team Adam all the way!”

I love Katalina and Alessandro. I’m glad to get more of these two and that they are finally getting the moment they deserved. I am firmly in team Katalina/Alessandro and not Nevada/Connor. I’m glad I stuck through the series for these two! I love watching their relationship blossom, very carefully in this book. I hated to see Alessandro so humbled, but glad he came to his senses and knew where home was going to be.
I’m truly enjoying the world building and magic system too. The author continues to build as the series goes on and it’s so unlike everything else that’s “popular” right now that it is such a breath of fresh air picking up this series.

I was skeptical going into this because of the “age gap” trope the author was advertising, however this one was perfect! Turns out I’m not into daddy age gap tropes and that was not this! I loved their interactions, I was laughing so hard at their made up meet cute story that I woke my husband up. I was bummed the FMC lost so much at the end and I felt like she gave up a lot of her dreams, even though it all worked out. Every time Silas called Ollie by her given name I had butterflies. I hope there are more to this series! The author has really set it up and I’m already dying for Holmes to be happy.

I’ve been following this author for years, YEARS because of her vageode cake. I have bought her books when they were on sale, because why not? But I was uninterested because I’m not a sappy romance kind of reader. I’ve recently gotten into rom-coms but I’m picky. A Book-toker who has never lead me astray recommended Abby’s books and had me wondering if I’d been sleeping on them. Spoiler alert: I was! I don’t know how I’ve been following this woman for years, laughing at her antics and internet trolling and thought she wouldn’t write a hilarious book?! Seriously, the book had me grinning at my desk at work and I was trying to hide that I was reading it. 😅 I felt like the anguish was too drawn out, it went on for 70% of the book. I didn’t expect to also be emotionally destroyed by the side characters either. Only downfall to the book, IMO. But I understand it’s setting us up for book 2. I read this in a day and already have book 2 on hold at the library. Don’t sleep on this like I did! It’s a great emotional little rom-com!

Too long, too slow. How is it the same author wrote the phenomenal Cane Brothers series also wrote this? It was cute but predictable. Found myself putting off reading it the longer I stuck with it. Probably should have been a DMF, but I have commitment problems.

Fox is my dream man. I love this book so much. It’s become a comfort read. I love the interaction between Fox and Hannah. Their banter is absolutely  top notch. You know how usually after you’ve read a beloved book for the first time, you wish you could read it again for the first time? Feel all the feels you felt? I still get this with Fox and Hannah. Unpopular opinion, but this was better for me than It Happened One Summer.
