I don't feel prepared to review this one. I wasn't expecting the feelings. White Knuckle is a memoir through poetry of the author's challenging upbringing through exposure to drugs, suicide, abuse, homelessness...This was difficult, emotional, and unflinchingly honest. Hold-your-breath intensity. Art.

Never underestimate the power of a letter written to authorities and the powers that be. Powerful words from this young woman. There are several parts of this book I would have liked to point out, words, art, but really, the whole thing is incredible.

I had a hard time getting into a groove this time around. When the writing is old and British, you know, it just doesn't flow the same hahaha. But eventually, near the end there I was able to smash it out. It doesn't help that I was simultaneously reading a Canadian textbook, an American textbook, and French Canadian articles for school.

I love this story. I don't care that real-life experiments have been conducted attempting to prove this wouldn't ever happen. You can't. You can't replicate the conditions, there are too many variables. I choose to believe that with the right amount of little assholes, this could totally happen. And it's terrifying. Those poor boys who didn't deserve their fate. And Ralph who only wanted the best for everyone. What a dear.

The interview-style storytelling in this book was just OK. I felt it took away from any suspense or anticipation that would have made this story so much better. There were no edge-of-seat or *gasp* moments. It was just like: this is what happened. And as the reader you're like: k *shoulder shrug*. Made the horror feel less horror.
