Elissa Sussman covers are always top tier. Another well done story of a famous person falling in love with a regular person albeit someone adjacent to fame. Good exploration of love after grief. Genuinely a pretty emotional read at times especially the mother daughter dynamics and drama.

Honestly wish they'd move out of Montana but that's just my personal preference. I think the characters are fine with the judgy town.
fast-paced

This was GOOD. It was fun to run theories and be 100% wrong a lot of the time. What an absolute treat of a book I'll definitely be picking up more from Janice Hallett in the future.

This was fine. A decently fast drama about rich people. It had one of the worst characters I've ever read about

I absolutely would not consider this Gothic horror though. In my opinion it was missing the vibes that Gothic horror should have where you are unsure if something otherworldly is occurring or something like that. Not enough mystery.

There wasn't much mystery in learning a bunch of people are actually

It's rare I blast through 500 pages of book in 2 days but this was one of those times, I just never wanted to put it down.
Book 2, while still great, is the path you have to walk down to get to this book. I am so excited I still have more to read. This whole series is such a feast for the imagination.

This was certainly a fast read and full of twists (too many?) And so it gets some praise for that. I think the core plot is pretty interesting but the dialogue in this book is almost unbearably bad. Like B movie bad acting, who even talks like that bad. One to borrow from the library maybe for a fast beach read or something like that.

Exceptional! I think if you love a good historical romance with GENUINELY well written sex scenes you'll love this.

I like the core message at the heart of this book for sure. Teens aren't worse. Times just change and if anything teens are the same as they've ever been. However, this felt like it was missing something and I can't quite put my finger on what exactly im feeling. In its favor it was a rush of a read because most of the book happens in one night so it really flies by.

I can tell that eventually this series is gonna punch me right in the face with emotions and I fear I'm not braced enough even now.

Beautiful collection of stories within an Palestinia American community in Boston. Reflective and sad and extremely poetic at times. I found the stories at the end to be the best of the bunch which is not always the case for an interconnected story. I love books written by creative writing professors.
