I went into this book blind with only knowing it being described as Pretty Little Liars meet paranormal activity. I usually don't read horror and thriller genres but this book sounded so good. I was happy with the story. If you are looking for some spooky vibes for October and not wanting a lot of gore then this book is for you. I enjoyed Mads Rafferty writing and excited to eventually read her other books she has written.

I enjoyed learning more about Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn's story. The way Cassandra Clare makes you root for the characters and find out why certain laws are made for a reason you just want to cry. The cliffhanger at the end. I was like wait, what?! Will be continuing The Dark Artifices trilogy but will need a break since this book was a bit long for me.

This story had me at text messaging, a dog, and both characters just being so relatable. Sloan in some parts just made me cry because I cannot imagine losing my significant other and was hoping for the relationship to work out in the end.

I liked the characters but at 88% through I was just bored so unfortunately I dnf'ed but I will be reading the Strange the Dreamer duology. I heard if you don't vibe with this trilogy to try reading the Strange the Dreamer duology.
